Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday, 13.07.09 at 7.00 p.m. in the Village Hall

PRESENT: Councillors G. Scrini, Mrs. B. Barber, Mrs. C. Simpson-Kane, F. Clark, J Cobb, Dist. Cllr Mrs Isard, and one member of the public.

2.  DECLARATION OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS

None

 

POLICE REPORT

The police were unable to attend but had sent in a report indicating there had been three reported crimes in the last month.  These include ongoing incidents of youngsters coming into the village and causing problems of vandalism.  The bench at Top Town Bridge has now been completely wrecked and damage caused at the Boat Club.  These two items need to be reported to P.C. Bailey.

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 08.6.09

The minutes had been circulated before the meeting. A couple of small amendments were made to the minutes that had been circulated.  It was proposed by Cllr Clark and seconded by Cllr  Mrs. Barber, that the minutes were now a true record, this was unanimously agreed.

 

5. MATTERS ARISING

a) Bridleway 25 – no communication from Laura Summers or Cllr Hempsall since the last meeting.  The Chairman now to contact Laura regarding the footpath at the Boat Club and Wharf Road to remind her of their previous conversations.

b) Bus Shelter – the baskets have been planted.  Thanks must go to the Garden Centre for the plants for the baskets and displays, to Mrs. Harlow for tending the War Memorial and to the community in general for watering the plants.

c) Village Maintenance – Hoo Lane – Anglian Water have acknowledged our letter and informed that Mr. James Vinter will be contacting the council to discuss this matter further.

d) Village Signs – the third sign still to be painted – in hand.

e) Trees – the trees are still not staked.

f) Christmas Tree – a second set of LED Christmas lights have now been obtained.

g) Parish Field –  the field has not been cut it was not possible to get the machinery through the gate.    Cllr Cobb has another possible contact for cutting the field and he will pass the details onto to the Chairman as soon as possible.  The Chairman stressed that the Parish Council has an obligation to protect the public/community issues of rights of way.  Access to the Parish Field and the public’s right of way to Bridleway 25 are separate issues and should be treated as such.  This will be an AGENDA item at the next meeting.

h) Planning – due to holidays the letter to BDC has not yet been done.

i) Best Kept Village Competition -  the village has not got through to the next round the several reasons for this were read to the meeting.

j) FOI Request -­  payment has now been received and the request dealt with.  However, a further request had been received, this has also been dealt with.

k) Rowan Tree – the cut up tree has now been removed.  The bench has now been completely wrecked and needs to be removed and repaired.  Cllr Mrs. Simpson-Kane said she would speak to her husband about doing this.

Payment proposed by Cllr Clark, seconded by Cllr Mrs. Barber and agreed by all.

 

8. BDC PARISH GRANT SCHEME

After discussion it was agreed to bring ideas to the next meeting when this item would again be put on the AGENDA.  Grants need to be applied for before 31.3.09

 

9. CORRESPONDENCE

a)       Letter from G & T contractors to be kept on file.

b)       BDC Statement of Community Involvement.  Copy to be made for Cllr Cable and a copy given to Cllr Mrs. Barber.

c)       NALC Northern Area Committee  - gave dates for future meetings and asked for more Parish Council to send representatives.

d)       East Drayton Parish Council – suggested they and Laneham P.C. might like to work more closely together.  Invited councillors to attend meetings.  The Chairman will make contact.

e)       BDC Children’s Plat Building Scheme – information passed to Cllr Mrs. Simpson-Kane to peruse.

f)        BDC Local Area Structure Forum East Bassetlaw – insufficient interest and no further action to be progressed.

 

10. LANEHAM LAST MONTH

a)       It was reported that a BT cable was hanging loose from a pole on Broadings Lane  - to be reported to BT.

b)       The meeting was informed that a Retford Times journalist had now moved into the village.

 

 

There was no further business discussed and the meeting closed at approximately 8.15 p.m.
